The Story.  We saw one of our favorite standup comedians was doing a show in Vegas.  We picked up tickets to the show on a whim and made a weekend out of it!

No pictures.  At this point, I stopped taking pictures in Vegas since we’d been on several weekend trips together.  I’m not bothered by it at all.

Glad I kept the room key.  I don’t always use room keys in layouts, but I’m glad I did here.  We’d stayed at the Monte Carlo a couple of times but this was the last time before the fire.  I didn’t realize that until I was writing this post!  Oddly, we’d be in Vegas again the following year a couple of days after the fire.

Not my best design.  I’m not the biggest fan of  how this turned out and that’s okay.  The tickets were hard to match with the other elements.  But, the story always wins.

Other Vegas layouts.  Seeing a theme?  2004 Vegas trip, 2005 Vegas trip, Bachelor/Bachelorette weekend in Vegas.

Scrapbook Layout: Vegas Trip with No Pictures

Vegas Scrapbook Layout by Natalie ParkerVegas Scrapbook Layout by Natalie ParkerVegas Scrapbook Layout by Natalie ParkerHow about an all keepsakes, zero photo page?  Pretty neat, huh?

I’m not that talented.  I actually made this page on scrapbook autopilot and didn’t realize that it was zero photos and all keepsakes until I started writing this post.  Sometimes I surprise myself.

The keepsakes make it difficult to get any real unifying color or design.  It’s basically a loose collage.  I just moved stuff around the page until the pieces fit together like a puzzle.

The colors of the cardstocks I used are pulled from the patterned paper.  It still kinda looks like the color is going all over the place, but I like it.

Really?  No pictures from a weekend trip?  I know.  This trip was very very last minute and was after a very busy time at work so we relaxed and I didn’t take any pictures (this was before real camera phones, you know).

Scrapbook Layout: Vegas Trip

Vegas Trip Multi-Photo Scrapbook Layout by Natalie ParkerVegas Trip Multi-Photo Scrapbook Layout by Natalie ParkerVegas Trip Multi-Photo Scrapbook Layout by Natalie ParkerThis is a pretty simple layout showing a lot of photos.  I went with this design for a couple of reasons.

First, I wanted the room key to work in the layout instead of being an afterthought.

Second, the pictures aren’t that great.  I took just a few and they weren’t my best.  I didn’t feel like I needed to make them big and showcase them.  I wanted them to seem fun.

I downloaded the swirly lines from the Silhouette Online Store, I felt like the page needed a little something!  The headlines are also, of course, as always, not sure why I have to note this, cut with the Silhouette.

I’m having a pretty good time exploring a new non-wedding style!

Scrapbook Layout: Wedding Scrapbook Bachelor/Bachelorette Party

Bachelor Bachelorette Party Scrapbook LayoutLots of pictures, lots of keepsakes and a really fun weekend to remember.

How to get a bachelor/bachelorette party weekend in Vegas to mesh with with everything else in the wedding scrapbook?  A challenge for sure.

I mixed all the keepsakes and photos, kitting everything tightly together into a collage.  I took the stack of keepsakes and trimmed down my favorites:

Bachelor Bachelorette Party Scrapbook LayoutI included a cocktail napkin, boarding pass, an advertisement for a club we went to, and cut out a piece from a cardboard photo holder that held a photo taken at a club (similar to when you buy a picture after a ride at Disneyland – it’s the Hard Rock piece going down the left side).

My favorite piece is the room key.  I snuck the story about the weekend inside the flap of the room key holder:

Bachelor Bachelorette Party Scrapbook LayoutFinally stealing an idea from Natalie that I’ve been wanting to use for a while, I left an unglued section when I attached the collage to the page.  This left me a nice space to tuck a quote list and top 10 list we wrote during the weekend.  These aren’t for public consumption, but they were too funny to part with, so I like the idea of discreetly tucking them away.

Bachelor Bachelorette Party Scrapbook LayoutLastly, I cut a simple headline with a flourish with the Silhouette.  I don’t think a fancier flourish would have looked quite right here 🙂

Bachelor Bachelorette Party Scrapbook LayoutAfter finishing this layout, I realized I’m seriously winding down the Engagement section of the scrapbook.  Only a few more pages to go!
