Honeymoon Scrapbook Papers

Honeymoon Scrapbook Papers 1I’m on to the Honeymoon part of the Wedding Scrapbook which means . . . a totally new color scheme!

The plan: use mostly blue, grey, and green* shimmer cardstock and accent it a tiny bit with patterned paper.  We honeymooned in Hawaii so most of the pictures are water and awesome scenery.

I went down to my local scrapbook store and picked up some papers in bluish-green.

Honeymoon Scrapbook Papers 2I’m going to keep these layouts pretty simple, mostly because I want them done.  Getting to work with a new color scheme is at least a shot in the arm since I’ve been working on this project for so long.

Onward!

*Am I the only one who thinks of Sarah, Plain and Tall when I think of the colors blue, grey, and green?

The Pink Shimmer Stock Debacle

Pink Shimmer Cardstock Wedding ScrapbookI wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t dramatic.

I’m using 3 different cardstocks for my wedding scrapbook in addition to patterned paper.  I have grey and pearl shimmer cardstock from Die Cuts with a View.  I also ordered some plain pink cardstock.  I thought it was okay to have the pink be non-shimmer because I planned on using it sparingly.

Pink Shimmer Cardstock Wedding ScrapbookI was designing the layouts for my wedding invitations and something just. wasn’t. right.  The page really needed a flourish of some sort and it needed to be pink (just trust me for the sake of argument here).   And you know what?  Using flat pink cardstock when everything else is shiny wasn’t going to work.

I may have panicked.  After searching, I found out that Die Cuts with a View did make pink shimmer stock but I couldn’t find it anywhere.  I couldn’t find anything similar either!  They do sell pink shimmer stock in a pad that includes other colors, but I would have to pay ~$20 for what would get me 4 sheets of pink.

I was left with 2 options: spend a ton of money for 4 sheets or come up with a different solution.  Here’s the different solution:

Pink Shimmer Cardstock Wedding ScrapbookScrapbook.com sells pink shimmer envelopes* by Die Cuts with a View.  Since I was only going to be using this pink for small accents, I probably could cut up the envelopes and make them work.

I ordered a bunch and am generally pleased with this fix.  I am easily able to take apart the envelopes and use them for accents.

Pink Shimmer Cardstock Wedding ScrapbookPhew, glad that problem is solved!

*the product is actually called Pink Shimmer Cardstock Envelopes, which miffs me a bit.  The envelopes are not cardstock and have the thickness of regular paper.

Wedding Scrapbook: Engagement Paper Scheme

Engagement Paper SchemeYes, I actually already have a paper scheme for this scrapbook.  But that’s for the actual wedding part of the book.  Since I’m trying to put the engagement, wedding and honeymoon in one book, I’m using a different paper scheme for each section.

I didn’t think the White Elegance patterns would work for the bachelor/bahelorette trip to Vegas nor for our honeymoon in Hawaii.  Doesn’t seem like it’d jive, right?

I trolled Pinterest for a few days, looking for color palettes to inspire me.  Then I saw this:

Wedding Bouquet

Perfect!  I wanted something that didn’t clash with the rest of the book, something that was soft but colorful at the same time.  I don’t have brands to share with you as most of this was sitting in my stash already.

I picked out a light and dark pink, a peachy orange, a greyish blue and a grey.  I’m planning on using different combinations of these colors in the engagement section.  Incorporating the orange is going to be a challenge!

Wedding Scrapbook Paper Scheme

Wedding Scrapbook PaperAfter a few weeks of hemming and hawing, I finally have my paper scheme set for the wedding scrapbook.

I know, I’m a weirdo – most scrapbookers really enjoy picking out new paper.  This job was difficult because I wanted a consistent look through the entire scrapbook.  Committing early to colors and fonts stressed me out!

I normally don’t use patterned paper, but it was necessary to bring interest to the pages since they would all be the same color scheme.  After looking forever and almost giving up, I decided to order samples of SEI White Elegance that I saw Natalie using in her wedding scrapbook.  I loved them!  They are the perfect refined shimmery look I was going for.

I added some shimmery grey and pearl cardstock to act as supporting characters.  Finally, I be using a bit of pink here and there.  I know, it’s really pink but I’ll be using it sparingly as an accent.

Wedding cardstockThe paper in the first picture is SEI White Elegance.  In the second picture, the white and silver are Die Cuts with A View 8.5×11 shimmer cardstock.  The pink is Bazzill Basics in Baby Pink Light.
